Introduced 1930. Originated in Twyford, Hawkes Bay, NZ.
A coloured sport of Dougherty. Convex in shape, med size. Skin is dark red which often has a maroon red flush through it's fine white firm flesh. Sweet sub acid flavour. These apples are mainly used in desserts but can also be enjoyed fresh or utilized in the production of cider.
Ripe: May/June.
